Tim Roth, star of the hit FOX drama series “LIE TO ME,” who plays Dr. Cal Lightman, the world’s leading deception expert, who by scrutinizing a person’s facial expressions and body language, can determine if that person is being truthful. Prior to his debut on network television, Roth made a career of playing notable characters in independent films including “Rob Roy,” a role that earned him Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama. Roth gained worldwide recognition for his roles in the Quentin Tarantino films “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction” and was most recently seen in “The Incredible Hulk,” “Youth Without Youth” and “Funny Games.” He recently finished shooting Alexandre Rockwell’s “Pete Smalls Is Dead” with Steve Buscemi.
In “LIE TO ME” Roth heads a team of experts who assist federal law enforcement, government agencies and local police with their most difficult cases. By analyzing facial expressions and involuntary body language, he can read feelings ranging from hidden resentment to sexual attraction to jealousy and can determine not only if you are lying but why. The compelling drama series is inspired by the scientific discoveries of Dr. Paul Ekman, a real-life specialist who can read clues embedded in the human face, body and voice to expose the truth and lies in criminal investigations.
