Kuala Lumpur Design Week 2010 - Now open for International Exhibitors.
Bigbros Workshop is the Co-partner of KLDW and had been appointed to handle international Exhibitors, Now calling out all talented designers to take part in the second annual KL Design Week Festival. We seek to feature creative works in all fields of...... design, including graphics, interior, textile, product, recycle, etc. Designers may submit their initial proposal in a form of a write-up of what you intend to do, with supporting pictures, scans or samples. All proposal materials should be submitted to the committee no later than January 15th, 2010. Details of submission can be found at http://www.kldesignweek.com or email sijuan@kldesignweek.com. Selected proposals will be featured in the KLDW 2010 and documented into KLDW 2010 designers’ guild.

vol:11/ Here is one of our favorite by David Oreilly PSS-Please Say Something. PSS is a 10 minute short concerning a troubled relationship between a Cat and Mouse set in the distant Future. The final film was completed in January 2009 and contains 23 episodes of exactly 25 seconds each. Images from it can be seen on t......he Flickr Page. The film won the Golden Bear for best short at the 2009 Berlinale.

Territory vol:11 / Design Crusaders
Much more than a tool of communication, design wields a significant power, creating meaning and social value in the world. In this issue, we look at designers who are considered influential and innovative, and whose works have come to be ubiquitous and synonymous with the shaping of c......ulture.
Negotiating design as a discipline in which fine art, graphic design, advertising overlap to create it's own language, it becomes a structure in which information is communicated and then transmitted to the viewer. More than just communicated information, design has become an experience, one which may uplift and inspire, produce practical solutions and enrich our lives visually and aesthetically. It forges cultural meaning, and becomes a language by which we recognize and identify with collectively. An early example of design would be the drawing of animals in the caves in Lascaux, one is able to, upon study to understand the history, narrative, meaning and guess the reality of the times of the people who lived during that period in time.
The design crusaders featured in this issue are examples of individuals, or collectives whose works and projects exists in the periphery of advancing design and culture on to the next level. They are examples and models for younger designers, passing on the design flame or torch as it were, by teaching in conferences, sharing with us their ideas, creativity and enthusiasm, we learn of their commitment to social and environmental issues, maintaining creative control in advertising projects, their unique journeys towards the attaining of their goals.
We also examine their different approaches and perspectives on the subject of design, and how each different thread weaves and interconnects to create the larger reality of the zeitgeist of design in these times, not only as a cultural signifier, but design as a cultural shaper.

Tokyo Plastic -portfolio review @ Kuala Lumpur
Here’s an opportunity for creative professionals in advertising, design, and communications to showcase work and a chance for the audience to get to know the ideas behind some of the more interesting work being done – here at The Portfolio Review!
Presenters will include Sam...... Lanyon Jones from animation/motion graphics outfit Tokyoplastic and local creatives from the advertising and animation industry like ActionTintoy and 1000Tentacles. Each presenter will have 20 minutes to share their portfolio and at the end we’ll invite speakers and the audience to give feedback and ask probing questions!
AND we’re allocated one slot for the ‘wild card’ i.e. if you’re an animator doing excellent stuff or if your agency has been blowing competition out of the water lately, we want to feature you! Send them an email, telling us a bit about yourself and why you want to be on line up.
The Portfolio Review will be followed by light lunch where you’ll have the chance to chat and network with peers in the industry in the relaxed atmosphere of Balai’s café.

DIGITIZATION: The Contemporary Digital Art of Malaysia's Emerging Designers.
“Digitization” is a collective featuring a diverse range of digital artworks created by Malaysia’s Young Emerging Designers. It is an exploration of the new media art, how its complex effects influences the way we perceive, think and feel, just...... like conventional art does.
In the spirit of unearthing young and emerging Malaysian designers, contemporary digital art and culture in Malaysia has become an exciting, diverse and vibrant realm. With this new territory, the progress of Malaysian art will be unveiled and tapped to indefinite possibilities, by the harmony of inspirations, into a fusion of ideas.
In appreciating these designers’ works of art, one inadvertantly participates in a broader understanding and acceptance of digital media and cultures. Taking its cue from the exhibition, this book attempts to show that digital is the main current of 21st century art.
This will the first round pre-highlights of Digitization at Bigbros workshop showcase space at Creative Catalyst in conjunction with Bangkok Design Festival 2009. Invading DUTCH DESIGN WEEK 2009.
Territory/Bigbros we will be exploring DDW in 60 locations and 280 events from 17th oct - 25th oct 2009. We were invited by MUxDDW to explore as many events as possible and will try keep you guys posted with any interesting stuff and highlights in Territory Magz as well.
ABOUT DDW:-
Each ......year in October Dutch Design Week is organized by Design Platform Eindhoven (DPE). DPE is a professional organization that, supported by the Eindhoven Design community, seeks to develop a stimulating and dynamic design climate in all cultural, social and economic domains in the region of Eindhoven. To that end, DPE organizes events, conferences, lectures and workshops based on three major dimensions: cultural stimulation, social cohesion and economic enhancement.
It is DPEs objective to further improve the cultural, economic and professional climate of design in the Eindhoven region and to position Eindhoven nationally and internationally as Design Capital.At the moment Eindhoven and Helsinki are the only two cities left, awaiting to be honoured as World Design Capitol 2012.
The platform seeks to join forces in order to turn Dutch Design Week both nationally and internationally into a distinctive, leading design manifestation for a wide range of target groups. The municipality of Eindhoven is aware of the fact that the design event is a major leverage to promote the design climate of Eindhoven, and has offered financial support.
